In The Pink

I read a comment from someone on another site about the strange pink sunset tonight.

As much as I abhor the female attraction to 'pink' I have to admit, it really was a strange hue this evening.

This is the Forth estuary and two LPG tankers are awaiting their turn to fill up at Braefoot Bay.

On the left is 'Odin'
On the right is 'Kappagas '

I think the colour arose from a combination of a number of features. The usual purple glow in the sky opposite the sun after it has set, dark overhead clouds, and a clearing in the west that revealed an orange-red glow on higher clouds that were illuminating the scene.
