Argentina superbus - home for a night

A marathon, cross-country bus journey awaited us on Sunday to take us from Bariloche to our next port of call - Puerto Madryn.

Bus travel in Argentina is very popular and they do it in relative style. Reclining seats, meals, blankets and B-grade movies are all part of the package.

The journey south down Route 40 from Bariloche was quite spectacular passing many lakes, canyons and mountain ridges on our way past the hippie town at El Bolson. A brief stop here turned into a much longer one as a passenger had gone AWOL in search of a boccadillo and cerveza even though he had already polished a few shots of a mysterious liquer.

Overnight the terrain was pretty flat which suited the late 1980s video clip soundtrack perfectly.
