Tuesday 10 January 2012: Slightly moist

So after collecting all these stumps (the final count was 40), I realised I needed some way other than pot luck to determine when they were sufficiently dry to burn.

Surfing a couple of wood burning stove websites for advice last night, I discovered a fantastic little gadget which measures your firewood's moisture content. As soon as it's dropped below 20%, you're good to go.

Trouble was, it was over £40 - a sum with which one could procure a decent pile of properly-seasoned hardwood. So I surfed on over to Serial Murderer Supplies instead, where I found exactly the same thing (albeit in a different colour without the word 'Stove' printed on it) on sale for a mere £17.

Bonus. Now I know exactly how moist my wood is (which, strangely, is exactly the same as my finger).
