Tuesday 10 January 2012: Tres Pinguinos
Today we did a spectacular full day tour to see dolphins and penguins.
First up was a 1 hour journey to Playa Union to hopefully see the Commerson dolphins which have a distinct black and white pattern. The weather was windy but we definitely came up trumps and in the course of the 2 hour trip must have seen dozens of dolphins. As the boat rocked from side to side I kept my camera finger on trigger and caught a few nice snaps.
Then it was on to the 2nd leg of the journey further south to Punto Tombo - home to the largest colony of Magellanic penguins in the world. Magellanic penguins are small in stature on the penguin scale but are real characters. It was a hot day so they mostly were looking for some shade. We loved the 3 amigos in this shot.
