Too Little, Too Late!

This is our newly acquired mosquito zapping bat, which I have to say is extremely satisfying to use and hear the electric charge fire as a target flies into its path during a sweep of the room.

I've put off using the D-word during the last few days, but it's now fairly clear I've been infected with Dengue Fever by one of the little critters not long after arrival in Belem. The roll call of symptoms couldn't be more in line with what I've been through; headaches, sore eyes, aching leg bones (it's often called break bone fever), lower back pain all night, high temperatures, drenching sweats and chills, a 24 hour period of complete remission a day after the onset of symptoms before a relapse into complete lethargy as if heavily drugged, and, yesterday evening, as if there had been any doubt, the onset of bright red itchy rashes on both palms which led to another disturbed night, although backache free for the first time in days!

I'm taking a few paracetamol and an anti-allergy rash relief pill from the pharmacist. There ain't no innoculation or antidote. Maybe, I'm wrong, but it seems fairly textbook. A spot of rest and liquids are the order of the day!
