Friday 23 February 2007: Western Electric Model 500 - 1954
In the early to mid-1950's Western Electric began making colored plastic telephones. In the beginning only the cases were made in color. The housings were put on what would normally have been a black telephone. This one is is from October of 1954. The dial card in the center of the dial is from the Schenectady, NY area, thus the number SCHENECTADY4-4896. I hope you enjoy walking down memory lane with me and my vintage rotary phones.
