Thursday 12 January 2012: Greyfriar's Bobby
This must be the most photographed dog in Edinburgh. Bobby's statue stands at the top of Candlemakers' Row in the Old Town and there are nearly always tourists (or people like me!) taking photos. Everyone must know the story of this faithful old dog who spent years guarding his master's grave at the nearby cemetery. Local people fed and looked after the dog until it, too passed away. .
I was meeting a friend at the Elephant House ("birthplace of Harry Potter") and the sun had just come around the corner, lighting up Bobby. I tried different angles, but I think this is the best one. (Tea and cake at the Elephant House was great, by the way!)
