Saturday 14 January 2012: Still Life
Took the hounds up to the vineyard for their daily ramble....was hoping the goatherd and his flock might be there. Not today and probably just as well as a trio of dogs, goats and kids may not the best combination.
What a beautiful day and while fossicking around pocketed this little collection.
The shells are from land snails and apparently edible when correctly raised, the two stone fruit pits from almond and peach and collected from under the same tree. The root stock is almond and when the trees are stressed over a period of time I'm told they will revert to the original fruit and the tree again grows almonds...and there are dried olives from the little grove, wild thyme and pottery shards.
Almost enough for a fine, if interesting, little vineyard pot-au-feu!!
