Sunday 15 January 2012: Anas americana
Anas americana, the American Wigeon, this one's been kicking around in Yorkshire for a while now, so it would have been rude not to nip over to Wakefield to see it. It took a while to find it on the lake as the light was not ideal, but once you see it, its obviously a bit foreign when compared to out good old UK based Anas penelope, the Wigeon.
For comparison: the far left bird is a wigeon, and the third bird in is the american wigeon (note that they both have the white patch on the rump).
