Wednesday 18 January 2012: Red hot
This poker tells the story of a heat wave moving over many areas in our country.
Especially along the Western Coast, Southern Coast, Wild Coast, also inland, many reports are coming in of extreme temperatures.
Cape Town, the Mother City had temps of 38*C today ... and at Paarl, not far away, a temperature of 56*C was recorded.
Wide spread veld fires have been raging and caused much damage. It is under control, but not extinguished yet.
At one'o'clock, the temperature on our stoep was 35*C with humidity reaching 95% .. not the best days of our lives .. the dogs are panting continuously ..
Up north, heavy rains have been recorded: national roads have been closed and even the Kruger National Park have had a deluge.
Thinking on this - I guess this is not so unusual .. summer time in SA usually comes after the solstice ... and from when I was a kid, I can remember my parents and people going to have a look at rivers flooding their banks.
I do wish for a little (or rather a lot of) rain in our area, soon! That will be great!
