Centre of attention

Like him or loathe him, there's no denying the most prominent figure in Scottish politics at the moment. Here he is surrounded by the media (who'd been waiting getting on for an hour for him to arrive - he was significantly later than his supposed 2pm arrival time). He was opening the .Scottish headquarters of a New Zealand technology company' (or at least their main UK office, still not sure if they are now a Scottish company or not). The former Standard Life building - it became surplus to their requirements within fifteen years of opening - has been renovated for new tenants, although there is still a lot of empty office space. It had the feel of a slightly sad shopping mall, where lots of the units have still not been let. I suppose the 200-odd high tech jobs are something to celebrate, but in the midst of such much unused space it still seemed a little hollow.
