Thursday 19 January 2012: Portland Bill

This stone obelisk was built in 1844 at the very southern tip of Portland Bill - apparently as a warning that there is a low shelf of rock protruding out to sea. I guess you'd need to understand the code before its meaning becomes clear. I had to google it. Dunno how they managed in 1844, though.
