Thursday 19 January 2012: Sunset reflected

I was awoken with a start this morning because Ant suddenly sat bolt upright in bed. It turns out that he'd just woken up and realised that the dressing had come off the ring finger; the nail followed soon after that. A bath this afternoon sorted out the nail on the little finger, and the hand is now clean and free of dried blood again for the first time since the accident back on 13 December! As there's no protection for the nailbeds and the skin is basically raw, those two fingers are 'smarting' to use Ant's word. He's says he's trying to come to turns with the fact that he won't be as pretty as he used to be...

We'd barely finished our first mugs of tea/coffee when Ant then had a phone call from a client to say that she's very sorry that he's been ill, but as he's not been there over the last few weeks, they've decided to review his contract. Bloody marvellous. That put me in a bit of a down mood, which wasn't helped by the fact I managed to do something to my lower back when I was rotating the mattress this morning. Plenty of painkillers later and I'm still hurting, so it's off to bed soon.

Edit: Try the sunset (which is reflected in our bedroom window) large...

P.S. I decided in the end that I would contact last night's inn to complain formally about the whole fish fat thing as it's against Food Standards Agency guidelines. I'll keep you posted.
