Thursday 19 January 2012: Biking, vining and dining - Chacras, Mendoza

Today we had a really nice gang for the "wine tour by bike" in the town of Chacras on the outskirts of Mendoza.

The photo shows the team in motion and from front to back we have:
Greg (South African now Aussie) and Liza (Aussie)
Jo (Aussie)
Rob (Brit)
Joao (Brasileno)
Me the photographer (Aussie)

After selecting the bikes (a choice between old-school choppers and mountain bikes) and armed with maps and a loose set of appointments we headed out to hit 3 wineries (Weinert; Pulmery and Alta Vista) and 1 chocolateria (A la Antigua).

Wine quality was pretty good with Pulmery topping the list with their organic range of Malbecs and Cab Savs. Another highlight was the hospitality at A la Antigua - a true family business. The tastings of olives, jams, chocolates and liquers was bountiful and Mama gave everyone a farewell kiss.
