Friday 20 January 2012: Fistful of fingers (not for the faint-hearted!)

What a difference two days make. Ant couldn't bend the two damaged fingers at all when the cast came off on Wednesday, and now he can make a fist, for a few seconds at a time, and squeeze a stress ball for gentle exercise. I chose this shot as it hopefully isn't too grim. I've uploaded another shot with the damaged fingers in focus squeezing a stress ball to Flickr if you've a stronger stomach and are curious about the damage the mower blade did.

The garden was alive with birds today. And we had three long-tailed tits flitting about between the bonsai wisteria and the neighbour's buddleia on one side of the garden and the food court on the other side. They just didn't stay still long enough for me to get a shot, but I'm working on it. I did, however, catch one of two male blackbirds in the garden with a seed in his mouth, which I've uploaded to my Blipfolio.

Oh, and I got an email back from the inn. It went along the lines of apology, chef's been retrained, fat's been changed, staff all made aware and please come back for a free meal and give us another chance and we'll 'look after you'. The tone makes it sound like it was a one-off problem with this chef, but I'm not at all convinced by that, and I think I'll always have that nagging doubt, so I'm not yet sure if I'll take them up on that free meal.
