Saturday 21 January 2012: Rise by Andy Scott

I've wanted to take a picture of Rise since I saw Andy Scott's figurative sculpture Aria photographed so beautifully by Sleepyhead and Damnonii

Sleephead's Aria. Damnonii's Aria

Andy Scott is from Glasgow and specialises in public art, particularly, it would seem, that which celebrates his home town.

This a six metre high figure of a woman with propeller-like arms and is made from highly polished galvanised steel. She stands in the newly developed Glasgow Harbour in Partick. Her legs are bent as if she is just rising and straightening up having been on her knees.

I took lots of pictures full length and at various angles but I quite liked this view of her closer up and you can see her arms in 'motion'.

HERE

(I did have a link but my entire blipfolio appears to have disappeared!)

I'm sure I'll be back again to see her as she's a beauty and I would like to see her twinkling in the evening light.

Beautiful blue sky this morning with perfect puffs of cloud. But bitterly cold and windy. Nearly got blown into the Clyde taking this!
