Saturday 21 January 2012: As regular as...
694/365: ... crossword.
Every day my mum buys the paper. Every day she does The Guardian 'Quick Crossword'. Most days she cheats. :o)
Here she is, on the verge of completing the crossword... pencil poised... but on the verge of needing to cheat. The missing words were 'axiom' and 'beeline' if you're curious. I'll leave you to invent the clue that went with those answers!
Today's been SUCH a busy day. Started at 4am with Felix waking me (then going back to sleep himself and me being unable to sleep again)... then up to do the mass 'get to swimming' effort. We made it on time this week and Maddy actually went in to her new class (after last week's fail!, though she almost almost didn't... in fact, she started to walk away from the poolside and I thought she was going to bolt! Then, quickly drying her off (in the packed sauna that is the changing rooms at the swimming pool in Arnold) and into ASDA to battle the grocery shopping... then rush back for Felix's lesson - all within the space of two hours.
Knackering!
Anyhoo, home from that, quick cuppa, then lunch for us all and out for a miserably cold and windy walk. This is the year I have not only embraced my 'coat that makes me look like a polar bear' but have also hijacked Felix's ear muffs and don't care if I look like 2 tonnes of Princess Leia. My ears are NOT getting cold! One of our neighbours also popped round with some craft bits for the kids, which was so lovely of them. Maddy and Felix made thank you cards and took them over. Moo signed the card 'Love from Maddy, Felix, Nick and Sarah. The end'. I think I'll start writing 'The End' on stuff I've written too. Regardless of what it is. Seems tremendously satisfying some how!
Oh, and after that - made a batch of fairy cakes... and finally we all went out for tea in town for Felix's birthday (which is Tuesday, but who's counting!). We went to Pizza Hut - which I think they may only have been to once before. And all was going well until the Ice cream Factory at the end. Felix, under the supervision of Nick (see how I lay blame at his door!), filled his bowl with more sweets, goop and kiddie-drugs than I've ever seen before. The first few mouthfuls were okay. By the time he was shovelling in the last few bits of lumpy syrupy gack, he was giggling like a maniacal loon and his eyes were so wide they were almost popping out of his head! I don't think he knew what to do with the sugar rush!!
I know what to do with his sugar rush though.
It mainly involves hiding from Felix. And I'm not sure I'm allowed that option.
PS Curses!
PPS Wish us luck... the house may not survive...
PPPS More archiving today. It's addictive!
