Saturday 21 January 2012: A stumble and fall....but saved the camera

Over the last few weeks we have mainly been in cities so it was great to get our trekking feet back on and head out for a full day's hike in the Cordon del Plata mountain range outside Mendoza.

Our goal was to reach the peak of Cerro Arenales at 3,300 metres altitude from the starting refugio about 900 metres below. It was a real international group represented by Spain, Chile, Argentina, U.S and of course Australia.

The terrain was rocky... the sky was a total whiteout of clouds...and the breathing became heavier as we pushed higher. The summit was celebrated with hugs and kisses and lunch.

Then on the downward journey I slipped and had "a stumble and fall". A few minor bruises but saved the camera and a few minutes later snapped this shot of the group taking better care than I.
