Sunday 22 January 2012: Lonely Swan

This solitary swan has taken up residence in the pond behind my house for the last three days. It swims about the small pond, put it's head under the water while feeding and sleeps.

I wonder if it has lost it's mate, is recovering from a long flight or just likes the place it is in?
