send me back to the wild!

Equus

We were out walking our friend's dog today when we happened upon a field of horses. They came haring over the brow of the hill, and I kicked myself for not having the camera at the ready. The backlighting was like something from an American western. By the time I got the camera out, they were checking us for apples. Proof that any lens, no matter how versatile, can only help you get the shot if you're ready for it. I'll have to hope for similar circumstances the next time I'm up that way.

Nikon D300; Tamron 18-270mm PZD @ 65mm; ISO 400; F/9; 1/320s. VC on.

There's another image after the break that should give you some idea of what I missed?
