WINDY MILLS

LISSETT WIND FARM
The largest wind farm in East Yorkshire consists of 12 turbines at the former RAF airfield at Lissett. Each one stands 125m tall - just 10m less than the height of the London Eye. The first turbines went into operation in 2009 and each one is named after aircraft that flew from the airfield.
The energy produced meets the annual needs of 10% of the households in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
