Got away
A sharp drop in temperature always brings a mouse or two as the little shits come searching for food and a bit of a heat. There must be a point where the trap becomes a little stuck, allowing them a couple of quick attempts to take the chocolate buttons. Of course, there's no way they're getting them. They're melted onto the trap so all they get is a couple of scrapes of the chocolate. That they don't persevere for more chocolate is interesting. It suggests they know what this is and don't try too hard. Still, now that it's reset, it's back on a hair trigger, as my left middle finger can testify. They'll come back for more later when the house is dark and quiet.
