Wednesday 25 January 2012: Swamp 'thing'

Or...should it be hemorrhoid!
On my travels today I came across the 'rebuild' of Christchurch at Latimer Hotel version two.
What amazed me as I watched, what came out of the ground as they were drilling to China was total grey wet liquifaction - and here they were drilling to place hundreds of piles that were extraordinarily deep...great to see they are keeping up with the new standards that are now necessary - interestingly these standard must be out there months ago for them to be drilling now.....we still have to wait till the end of February to know what our homes will require. Makes you wonder....if this is what is required - where does that leave existing buildings that remain. This is only a two story building I believe, what about the buildings that are left that are over two stories???? How will they fare in any future earthquakes???Will anyone willingly work in them???? Much to ponder on - what lurks beneath??
