You were destined for great things,
Could have reached for the stars,
rocked the cradle, held the bird,
Played a winning hand of cards.
Been the upper hand, or held a hand
Or the underhanded backhand,
Been the ultimate hand-y man
Or played the guitar!
A philanthropic giving a hand,
Or an old romantic, heart in your hand,
Or down on your luck with your hat in your hand -
Cash in hand, hand outs and hand-me-downs.
Been first or second, right or left,
Lily-white, lent, or raised in assent....
But there you are giving the finger,
impaled on a fence!
