A sign of summer seeing these little shells all over the place. Despite being ubiquitous they do hold something of a fascination for us photogs. They are a bit of an easy target , specially when you get a bit of backlight.
This is a simple focus stack. If you arent familiar with this most valuable close up tool, it's 2 photos, - normally you'd use more than that, - opened as layers in photoshop then auto align layers, in PS4 you can then run an auto blend , which occasionally will successfully blend the differently focused layers automatically. In this case as it was an easy one, just used a layer mask and brushed out the out of focus bits from one to blend the sharp areas of both photos. This one really needed a third and fourth shot to really get the DOF , but it was just a quickie
