Robin Reid Briest...

Robin, Robin Reidbreist,
Happin' on a brier
Oot amang the snaw and ice,
While I sit by the fire.
Tell me in your bonnie sang
That ye're my frien sae true,
And I shall gie ye meat and drink
The hail winter throu.

Bethany's class have been learning about birds at school and part of her homework was to put out some food for the birds and try and get a photograph of them. We bought a big slab of lard and mixed it with some bread, bacon and seedy bits from the bread and made a fatball for the garden. Didn't get much action since last week when we put it up but it turned into a starling feeding frenzy this morning with a bunch of them fighting over the spoils hanging from our washing line.

This wee robin was picking away at the leftovers on the ground and was most apropriate as last week's homework was to learn the poem above to tie this homework in with the rest of the Burns night stuff they've been doing.
