Road to Sao Paulo

Our 2,000 mile trip today to Sao Paulo took eight and a half hours flying from Belem in the State of Para to Belo Horizonte in the State of Minas Gerais (General Mines), then onto Campinas in the State of Sao Paulo and finally by road into the city of Sao Paulo, itself.

It is a very different country in these parts with visible signs of modern development in the autoroute system and modern industrial plants set in verdant pastures under crystal clear skies with a touch of liquid lead in the light.

I shot this from the window on the road and the vehicle is typical of the lorry fleet; most of them have flexible steel tubes leading from the chassis to the wheel hubs to feed supply air in case of low pressure.

It's not quite 'The Road to Rio' but in three weeks it will be! And here's a line from the famous Crosby/Hope/Lamour 1947 film of that name:

Do you want me to kiss you now, or should I tease you for a while?

- the Hope character still trying to win Dorothy Lamour
