Monday 30 January 2012: 'School Tomorrow'

Not many blips today. We were quite busy with various jobs around the house and garden and then we went into to town to look for a sunhat for Immy. After that, we went to the beach.

It was a public holiday today - Nelson's Anniversary Day - so the beach was full of people. School starts tomorrow. A big day. In fact, for Immy at least, a whole new chapter. This was one of the few photos I took, as I didn't want to take the good camera onto the beach when lying around in the sand was involved. In an effort to make it a bit more 'exciting', I had a jolly good fiddle around in PS (my PS for Beginners book is not here at the moment as it's currently on its way from Bahrain, so I just had to try out a few things I'm afraid!). I've used the 'ripple' effect which I quite like, especially on the headland and group of people in the background, on the left of the frame.

I decided to blip it because, despite the blurry image, I think it still captures the essence of a sunny summer's day at the beach and the slightly apprehensive, wistful mood of the subject in the foreground.

Off to bed now; an early start in the morning!
