Tuesday 31 January 2012: Been meaning to do this for ages.......

Quite a few years ago, certainly more than 10, I was on holiday in the Czech Republic. I brought back some lovely wooden toys and these pencils. The pencils are quite chunky and are in a wooden pencil holder.

I love them, but I have never used them; I just enjoy looking at them. I've been meaning to photograph them for ages. Tonight I came home after the Photo Club and decided that tonight was the night. I had nothing else in the camera to show.

I had to put up the tripod to take this image. I aimed for a shallow depth of field keeping the black background out of focus and very black.

At the Club we saw the images from 2 of our members who did "A year in the life of a photographer" last year. This year I am doing this project. I have to chose one image a week and then show 30 of these next January. Blip should help me to have enough material (I hope).

These pencils may reappear in the future. I think there is more mileage in them.
