Tuesday 31 January 2012: River Mouth

We went to see an exhibit on coastal lagoons at our little Natural History Museum. Just a short walk from the Museum is the mouth of the San Lorenzo River, capable, in winter months, of creating its own lagoon right here on the main beach in front of the roller coaster. We are standing on a cliff looking down the beach. The river, which usually runs straight along the base of this cliff, is sinuously migrating more towards the center of the beach, and at some point may be sealed off by a sand bank, creating a rich temporary habitat for all sorts of creatures.

I tried my hand at a panorama because I loved the way the water moves through the field of vision.

I hope you can click on the image and see it enlarged.
