Wednesday 1 February 2012: The Other Woman
My husband has 'another'. Rather strangely, he has allowed me to come and live within a stone's throw of her. He spends a fortune on her; buys her the most expensive accessories and, I know, hopes eventually to take her away to the Marlborough Sounds. He has stripped her.... Now, she's pretty broad in the beam (and he is the first to admit this) but since he took up with her, she has apparently lost one-and-a-half tons. Amazingly, he plans to replace most of that weight by giving her what he euphemistically terms 'a new motor'. He is footing the bill for her significant cosmetic surgery needs in the hopes that she will repay him in the future with cosy weekends away - on which I am apparently invited, too!
This morning, I received the news that the accommodation upgrade that he had arranged for her had been finalised. You may be astounded to hear that he actually asked me to go and take some photos of her moving! I was only given an hour's notice of the event and unfortunately by the time I arrived on the scene, she had already completed the relocation and was happily ensconced in her new home.
To be honest, I thought she looked rather out of place. She is shorter and fatter - let's make no bones about it, she comes from a mussel-farming background though that is apparently part of her appeal - than her new neighbours. Their sleek lines and elegant curves only serve to accentuate her - frankly square - rear end. On one side lives the elegant 'Georgia', while on the other side is the slightly less beautiful but obviously wealthy lady with an impressive 'flying bridge' (nudge, nudge) who goes by the rather racy moniker 'Last Resort.'
Personally, I think she was more comfortable where she was, with no-one to show her up, but my husband didn't like to think of her roughing it. So there she is at her smart new address. It was rather a grey, overcast morning but I made an effort to get some shots of her in her new home to show that I bear her no ill will, really. She has a lovely sea view where she is, right on the water, and I even managed to get a duck in the shot for good measure.
This happy little family out for a morning swim also caught my eye!
