Imbolc

I caused havoc to get this image!! I wanted a lamb and the only ones I spotted involved dangerous parking and even more dangerous blipping at the side of a road and up a slope.

Today is of course Imbolc!! Ireland still follows the ancient Celtic seasons and Imbolc is one of the four cross quarter days that mark each new season (the others are Bealtine in May; Lunasa In August and Samhain in November) and is halfway between the winter solstice and the Spring equinox. Roughly translated Imolc means 'ewe's milk' and little lambs are one of the welcome signs of Spring. It is also St Bridget's Day, a celebration of the old hag(winter) giving way to the young maiden (spring)! For more info on St Bridget see my blip from last year. St Bridget crosses were made in school, the lambs are frolicing and there is even some sunshine, though it's very cold - Spring is sprung

We have friends coming round for supper so I must go and prepare a large macaroni cheese. Catch up later.
