Sunday 5 February 2012: Hoya flowers
My son has a hoya plant that is planning world domination - it has spread from the corner it lives in along the kitchen window sill in both directions and is getting more and more foliage every day.
I noticed it had buds on it about a week ago, and today when we called in it was flowering, so had to take a pic of it. Grey and windy again outside so not a lot going on there, but this was inside!
The little droplets on it are not water, but little drops of liquid nectar, and are very sweet to taste (they are also very sticky and you don't want a hoya plant over carpet or upholstery or it makes a very sticky hard to remove mess!
the flowers are small about 6mm across, but have a lovely star centre and velvety petals.
