Sunday 5 February 2012: She lasted until the end of the road...
709/365: Our road. Before we gave up with her wailing 'My feet are COLD!!! I don't like the sno-o-o-o-ow'. And sobbing. Lots.
Which was funny, because only moments before she'd been boinging with happiness about the prospect of going for a snowy walk. But then. Her. Feet. Got. Cold.
And despite two pairs of socks there was no convincing her that she could deal with it (plus, she hadn't wanted to wear sensible clothes in the first place - aaargh!). That weepy incident aside, today has been a properly 'fun in the snow day'. In fact, I really struggled to choose a picture today, and there are others over on Facebook which no doubt I'll dither over for a while yet!
Anyway, once Maddy had gone home with Nick, I walked to the park with Felix where he basically lay in the snow, ran around like a loony, threw snowballs (boulders would be more accurate because I swear one was a foot across!) and jumped into the snow... and squealed. Yay! Me? I did pretty much the same thing. :o)
Forgot to say how the day started too... it started in darkness, with a little whispery voice or two wafting up the stairs while I lay in bed. Then a giggle. Then silence. Now, it's the silence which is always the worrying bit when you're a parent, so I hauled myself out of bed, cursing the fact that it was still only 6am... and went downstairs. Where I discovered that they'd been out playing in the snow in the garden! Maddy in wellies and pyjamas. Felix in pyjamas... and bare feet! Absolute nutters!
All other stuff has either involved the snow (with a home made sledge made from a plastic tub) or me going 'SHUT THE DOOR!!!' as one or other of them left the front or back doors open. Now, Nick, Maddy and Felix are out to track down more snow to play in.
Y'know what? This is the BEST kind of snow. Snows heavily during the evening before. A few inches of snow during the day. Sunshine and melting. And all on a weekend so that going to work shouldn't be too scary.
Right... must stick a couple of loaves in the oven, then make an apple crumble and a roast din dins to go with it.
PS Yay the snow!
PPS Yay the weekend!
PPPS Not yay for my bloody washing machine which is beeping its infernal beep in the background. Grrrr!
