Tuesday 7 February 2012: fire danger rating

These signs are all over the shire, in fact all over the state.
They give an indication of the fire danger and today it is very high, a notch up from yesterday. Temperatures are soaring.

Believe it or not even on extreme and even catastrophic days idiots are STILL out there with angle grinders and welders. Usually in dry paddocks or by tinder dry sheds and yes the worse does happen. Last year on a 'catastrophic' day some bloke in the hills had his angle grinder going...result? 70 homes and properties destroyed and they are still rebuilding, a year later.
