Sgwarnog: In the Field

Moonrise

It's the day after the full moon, but its still 99.8% illuminated and as as it rose this evening it took on an orange glow, very similar to last March's supermoon.

The February moon has different names in different traditions, for Celts it's the Ice Moon, for old English, the Storm Moon and the Chinese name is the Budding Moon. Ice name seems appropriate given the current conditions.

I popped onto the moor to get this view of it rising over Leeds-Bradford airport. In another hour or so Mars will be showing just above to the horizon, to the north of the Moon, although I doubt we'll spot it in the glare of the airport lights.
