A Hat Without A Poet

Well fancy that!
A poet's hat.
A hat without a poet.

He left it on his last visit.
When he got home
did he miss it?

He did. He phoned to say
I think I've left
my hat at your house today.

I'm tempted to keep it
in this cold weather.
Even though it doesn't fit.

But if I lied and denied
having the hat of the poet
I think he'd know it.

So that's that.
I'd better let him
have it back.
