Telling Tiles

The Glamorgan Building in Cathays Park in Cardiff was completed in 1911 and opened in 1912 - a hundred years ago.

A hundred years ago I think there was a different idea about architecture. Buildings were solid, down-to-earth, built to last, often ornate and somehow timeless.

The architects and builders were generous in the details. It's wonderful, when you need visit the necessarium, to find that the room is spacious, carpeted and, in the necessary places, endowed with a mosaic floor.
