Hamburg - patterns in the walls

Phew. What a day!
Walked miles in temperatures below freezing all day. Think we've seen most of hamburg including a trip on the semi-frozen River Elbe!
So many things I could have blipped - opted for this one as it seemed to sum up hamburg as a city with a flair for modern architecture.
Kept away from the River Astel today. They reckon over a million seven hundred thousand people were on the frozen area and judging by the crowds we met on the way back to the hotel I would say it was a pretty safe estimate.
Managed more mulled wine (with Amaretti) and sausages for lunch. Off out tonight to sample more of the local food.
Fish market in the morning. Apparently as well as a genuine market it is the place for breakfast, where all-night revellers finish their partying!
