What I've Done

Macro: Moss seed heads with dew

Real dew, too - very overcast and misty in Cumbria today, so the macro theme for today was perfect.

Drove Emma over to her ballet class to find as it was half-term, it wasn't on, so grabbed this on the wall by the studio. Emms had a good drive on the way home (she's learning) .

I always find moss seed heads difficult to take in that a wide aperture doesn't give enough seeds in focus, but a small aperture shows the background too clearly, which can be distracting. As there was not a breath of wind, I did a focus-stacked image at f8, consisting of 15 images, taken at slightly different focus points, so I could extend the depth of field through the mosses, whilst still keeping a soft background.

For a step-by-step technique guide on focus stacking, look here.
