Sunday 12 February 2012: Thaw....

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday was blue and white and sharply crystalline. Today is green and grey and amorphous. Green blankets of grass and moss are now visible under the melting snow. Tomorrow the snow will be gone completely.

I'm truly amazed at the response to yesterday's photograph. Thank you all for the lovely comments, stars and hearts. I just wish you could all have been there with me. Then there would have been a cracking set of images!

It struck me how strongly attracted humans are to fleeting and unusual natural phenomena. As I write, three of the top four photographs in the Spotlight feature ice or snow, in extreme and unusual formations.

Off to serve our evening meal now - I'll catch up with you all later.
