Stuck back together?

There are several trees like this, and I always wonder why. Were they sawn through at the base, and then someone looked at the list and realised that these trees weren't on it...?

Yesterday I went to Dunelm and bought a rug, although not too big as I had to get it back on the bus! It's nice to have something warmer than a thin cotton rug under my feet.
