Thursday 31 July 2008: HDR Veluwe

While sitting on the loo this afternoon, I discovered that the Hoge Veluwe is open until 10pm during June and July. I made this discovery just after reading about the St. Hubertus Hunting Lodge, which the Kröller-Müller family (the original owners of the park who fell on hard times and handed it over to the nation in the 1920's for a measly 800,000 gilders) used to hole up in while shooting their deer and wild boars.

It was another lovely day so, once I'd pulled up my pants I persuaded Layla to put the Snootch to bed and let me cycle over to take a few pictures.

I set off with great gusto, planning to return home after dark. However, the evening sun was somewhat hotter than anticipated and I had to cut short my expedition after running out of water and giving myself a dehydration-induced headache.
