Sunday 3 August 2008: Monkey business

There's a place in Apeldoorn called 'Apenheul' which, translated literally, means 'Ape Hill' - a whole zoo devoted to our closest cousins. Sounded good to us!

At £14 each our hopes were high, but were weren't in the least bit disappointed. With all but the most dangerous animals (chimps and gorillas), there were no fences or cages separating visitors and animals. Incredible stuff I'm sure a lot of other zoos could learn from, although I still don't know how they manage to keep everything in the right place.

If you're ever in the area, don't miss it.
