This is Mary Higgins, a wonderful warm hearted midwife who is an ambassador for promoting 'normal midwifery' (especially in Ireland, which is not as easy or as common as it should be....in my opinion). Mary retired today from her post as Night Assistant Director of Midwifery, after 40 years of service. She will be missed by a lot of people here. Mary was always a voice of support for the midwives when there was often no one else to speak up for them. I have always admired her spirit, her articulation and her ability to read and comment intelligently on some very long, dry documents!
I wish her well in her travels and daily crossword.
