Wednesday 15 February 2012: Bradford fountains
How brilliant are they? in fact I would just like to spend a moment talking generally about how nice Bradford is in an aesthetic sense. If any of you follow Appertunity iconography, then you'll know this already but really Bradford has some amazing architecture (far superior to Leeds I have to say) and these fountains are brilliant.
Okay I know its been done before you only have to go to Sheffield to know that any poor northern city seems to think it can smarten its image with some fancy fountains, but I don't really care they are all brilliant (especially Sheffield's)
We were dropped off in Bradford this morning on Simon's way to work I kept complaining about the earliness of the hour as our plan was to go to the Media Museum which doesn't open until 10am and so was somewhat dismayed to think I'd have to kill a whole hour and 30 mins in Bradford city centre with two small boys. I needn't have worried. Early Learning Centre killed 20 minutes (and cost me 13 quid!) then Waterstones and a coffee and massive chocolate chip biscuit for the boys (well it is half term) and the rest of the time was spent looking at the fountains.
The media museum was good although heaving and had a guest appearance from a Moshi Monster (all three of us were a bit clueless about Moshi Monsters, Bob's more into Starwars at the mo) Then we reached breaking point at about 11.30 and it was time to head for the train. On the way back more fun was had in the fountains.
This afternoon I barricaded myself in the bathroom to take part in a work conference call until the yells from downstairs grew too much and I had to excuse myself. We then went to the park and played with water rockets and whistling rugby balls!
On return I decided I must be a most unnatural parent as I decided it was time they played on their own. They were having none of this and I nearly barricaded myself in the bathroom again only this time simply for self preservation! I know a time will come when I will desperately want their love and attention and so I should make the most of it now, but I do feel the need for space sometimes and quiet, this is why I could never be a full time stay at home mum.
Having said all that it was a good day:-)
