If I were making Florentines using my Big Fat Good Housekeeping Cookery Book my ingredients would include sultanas, cherries, candied peel and chopped nuts along with the butter, sugar and flour. I'd also make thin rounds and they would be half-covered with chocolate.

The Costco recipe is rather different. Apart from the E-numbers it includes glace melon and turnip, vegetable concentrate of radish, hibiscus, black carrot and red cabbage along with the expected orange peel and nuts, with glucose syrup, vegetable oil but no flour, and only chocolate flavour coating (see the evidence in large).

The result is bucket of fruit and nut brittle and, despite the unusual variety of contents, rather more-ish.
