Friday 17 February 2012: 60th birthday reminders

Regular followers of my blips know that I recently made the transition from the 6th to the 7th decade of my life, and had a great time celebrating. In our cold conservatory a number of presents from my birthday are thriving. The basket of primulas is an example. The flowers show no signs of fading and there is a cacophony of colour (if that it possible.....)

Here are a couple of blooms from one plant. I love the subtlety of the colours in these petals.

I was at the U3A Geology group today for an excellent talk on the Geology of the North Pennines AONB, which is also a Global Geopark.
