S2 - Another Day Abroad

Friday 17 February 2012: Baby Heart

For Christmas I got S1 a doppler fetal heart rate monitor. Tonight we decided to record babys heart beat so we have a record.

It's up online as Heart Beat on Baby/Bump's website.

The fact you can buy one of these monitors for £10's of pounds is mind blowing. Technology is simply amazing.

It amazes me that baby bump already has a website! I hope baby is ready to grow up in a geeky household!

Oh, I just realised I never posted this amazing ted talk showing a babys development. It's worth a watch if you have kids on the way (Mum - you will love it!).

I am constantly amazed at how much information I track about my life without even realising. Today a workmate asked how much I normally sleep and on demand I pulled up a full sleep record of the last few months (I average 6.75-7 hours sleep apparently). I track every minute of the time I spend on my PC and every step I take each day.

With a little one on the way, and living so far from parents, something as simple as a heartbeat recording is a truly special thing to share.

But amazingly, it also signifies that the digital daily record of our baby has already started, long before they have even born.

It is unbelievable to think that at some point in the future a person may be pull up on demand sounds, photos and videos of themselves from before they were even born. A full record of everything they have ever done.
