Monday 13 February 2012: 45. notoriety
texas is notorious for all the wrong reasons, mostly. back when bush was president even foreigners seemed to know he was "from texas."
(which he isn't. he was born in connecticut and went back there for school to be a yalie. thus he does not qualify, i don't care if he did grow up in midland.)
handgun law. republicans. david koresh. evangelical christians. the list could go on.
but the fact is, though this notoriety is misplaced and at times obnoxious, it feeds right into the old adage - there's no such thing as bad publicity. yes, it often means we're off on the wrong foot...but at least we're off.
